The Hope Car Beds – Special Pediatric Design for transportation of special needs children who cannot ride in a traditional car seat. The Hope Car Bed can accommodate an infant weighing from 4.5 lbs to 35 lbs and with a height of up to 29″ long (if knees are bent). The Hope Car Bed is the best choice if the child will need to ride in the bed for a long time.
This bed offers five different methods of restraint and is intended for individual use, hospital loaner programs, or medical institutional use. The Hope Car Bed is also available in a version that accommodates children with hip casts more easily.
The car bed can be installed in the rear seat on the right side, behind the passenger seat. This car bed is an ideal option for infants who need to travel on their stomach or side, cannot tolerate a semi-reclined position, or cannot use harness straps.
Product Benefits:
The Hope Car Bed allows for five different methods of restraint: in the restraint bag with a cummerbund or with the three-point harness and cummerbund, and in the supine position, prone position, or on the right side. The recommended position for safety is supine. Prone or side positions should be used only when medically necessary.
The Hope Car Bed should only be installed in the rear passenger seat of the car with the child’s head facing the center of the vehicle. Two seat belts should be used to install the car bed. Whether you use the restraint bag or the three-point harness, the cummerbund should always be used. The harness and restraint bag is not meant for simultaneous use. A leveling wedge is available to keep the car bed level so the child is not lying tilted at an angle.
The Hope Car Bed can accommodate children up to 29″ without bending the knees, or slightly taller children with the knees bent.
